Abstract: This study examines the social and cultural effects of using theatre in the context of the K-12 second language classroom. Using personal experience and the experience of 10 language educators, I have compared and contrasted a variety of accepted language learning pedagogies to determine whether or not students can become more culturally aware by having theatre incorporated into their language classes. I found that by doing so, children are likely to be more open and accepting of different cultures, traditions and people different from themselves because they will have taken a walk in another's shoes.
